When I was 12, I had a paper route delivering the morning edition of the San Jose Mercury News and a neighbor owned a red Ferrari 308 GT4. I would finish my route and position myself to be able hear the sports car warm up and drive away. What a great sound. Thirty two years later – I have been able to experience the Ferrari from my youth for myself. With less than 59,000 original miles, this West Coast example is in exceptional condition with new Rosso Barchetta paint and a recent full engine out service. All bents, hoses, seals, gaskets, fluids and maintenance items have been completed. It is ready for you to twist the key and enjoy.
The engine sounds wonderful via period correct Anza exhaust, the transmission shifts correctly, the clutch is tight, brakes and suspension function properly, all lights, gauges, doors locks, turn signals, power windows, power radio arial work as they should. The car does not leak oil or any other fluids. The heater and defroster work well and the air conditioning blows nice and cold.
A nice Alpine Radio with ipod / iphone cable was installed and five new Sumitomo performance tires were fitted. The car was in good, drive-able condition when I found it, however the proper maintenance had been deferred, and the car had been in storage for a year or two in Northern California Bay Area. I have the invoices of all the work completed by Ferrari Service of Costa Mesa (Michael Rozenstraten & Mike Greco). No expense was spared to make the car right and bring the maintenance up to date (the new owner will benefit, as the engine out service and invoices for work completed are extensive).
Recent repairs include, but are not limited to:
- R&R Engine Assembly for Major Service

Completely rust free, with no visible signs of prior collision damage – this West Coast car was the perfect candidate for a full professional re-spray. The Rosso Barchetta paint now looks amazing (BASF Premium – Glasurit FER 312). The correct and proper factory application of the black trim paint was also reapplied to the rocker panels and under and around the front and rear trunk panels and engine bay covers. The underside of the car is very clean and rust free, and has been detailed and repainted in the correct black trim paint.
On the interior, the aluminum dash, black dash top, steering wheel, headliner, and gauges are all in wonderful condition. The brown leather interior and carpet “are original” and include the patina of a your favorite pair of jeans. The leather pleated seating surfaces and piping are worn and could be replaced someday. The rest of the seats, center console and rear leather pleated seating are all in great shape. A complete professional re-dye would make the interior look new again, but is pre-mature in my opinion.
Wonderful to drive and fun to look at, this car is truly ready to enjoy an in amazing condition. In an effort to provide complete disclosure on everything I am aware of, I offer the following: The passenger side seat belt mechanism is all there, but is slow to pull out. It works, but the ratchet is touchy and requires patients. I discovered this while buckling in my four year old sons car seat. The original black glove box vinyl is brittle on the small area on the right side and as a nickel size crackling – to small to photograph. As communicated the brown leather seating surfaces and piping are original and warn.
